Metatags and its optimization

What is a Tag

A tag is a keyword or term assigned to a piece of information. This is what I have learnt in some books and internet. Now what is the role of these tags here in SEO. Lets explain with an example suppose I want to buy a pen and I went to a store or a shop then I found a beautyful pen there and saw a piece of paper is hanging with it and there its company name and its price is mentioned. That piece of paper is called that tag and that tag is providing me some information about that object. 

Same here in SEO, Tags are very helpful to providing information about some object. If we will have a knowledge of html then there are some html tags which give you some information about html objects. In this post we will read about one 7 of them but will only discussed 1 and rest in our other post. .

• Title tag.
• Meta description tag.
• Header tags. 
• Image alt tags. 
• Nofollow link tags. 
• Links and anchor text tags. 
• Canonical tags

There is very major role of HTML in SEO. We should have knowledge of all these tags but in this post we will read about the meta description tags and meta keywords tags

There are two important meta tags:

Meta description tags

Meta keyword tags

<meta name="keywords"  content="KEYWORD1 KEYWORD2 KEYPHRASE1 etc.  about 30 to 40 unique words">

<meta name="description"  content="An accurate, keyword-rich description about 150 characters">

<meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow">

Here is an expmple of optimization of Meta tags. It is combination of Keyword metatags as well as the meta description

Meta Description Tag Tips

Here we are sharing some Important tips which are good for Meta description tags:

• Use keywords in your meta description tag. so that it will show when you will search
• Try not to repeat the words overly often so that it would not like spamming to search engine, but try to use multiple syntaxes of your key words.
• There should not be more than 150 characters in a description metatag of a single web page.
• Use a different meta description tag for each page, as each page is different and stands a better chance of being found if you place a good title and description on it.

Meta Keywords Tag Tips

 . Use the following tips for preparing good meta keywords tags.

• Use synonyms a word or phrase that means exactly.
• Use unique keywords.
• No need to repeat any given phrase.
• You can repeat a word any number of time, as long as each time it is part of a different phrase.
